Lake Palace was the former summer residence of King Travancore, an ancient kingdom in what is now Kerala. The place is currently undergoing renovations and has been transformed into a prestigious historic hotel run by KTDC. This small hotel with only 6 rooms is located on a small island in Lake Periyar, surrounded by water and forest.Lake Palace is located in the Periyar Tiger Reserve and access to this location is restricted. Enter through the Periyar Tiger Reserver gate, drive to the hotel's departure point in the forest, park your car there, and then take the boat for approximately 25 minutes to reach the hotel. The boat ride to the hotel itself is an experience. If you're lucky, you'll see plenty of wildlife on your way to the hotel.The tiger sanctuary gates close at 5am. Guests will not be able to enter or leave the hotel after 30:00 pm. Emergency exit may be possible with special permit.
